Honey

"My-ike!" Kylie mimicked mommy last Christmas. She went though quite a long phase calling her daddy Mike, instead of Daddy. It was so funny to hear Mike almost beg, "Please call me Daddy." Well, Daddy is now daddy, but Mommy is now Honey. I must admit, it is kind of cute to hear your two year old call you Honey. It is especially cute to hear her say, "Thank you, Honey." No doubt, imitation is in play here, so kudos go to Mike for setting such a good example on manners. Thanks, Honey!

Nutcracker Man

We watched the San Francisco Ballet's version of the Nutcracker Wednesday night on PBS. I told Kylie the story of the Nutcracker before we watched it and retold it to her as we watched. She was mesmerized! She loves to dance and watch musicals. Her favorite (introduced to her by Grandma Mona) is Shirley Temple. She watched for about half the time & then, of course, she had to dance too! She ran and got her tutu & asked us to move the coffee table & the story of the nutcracker came to life for Kylie just as it did for little Clara in the ballet. I love to watch Kylie enjoy music & dance. I figure if one is singing, it means joy is being felt. Kylie is always singing! What a joy she is!

Hippopotamus

I was just playing with some puppets with Kylie. She pulled out a hippopotamus & called it an alligator. I corrected her and told her it was a hippopotamus. I just about cracked up listening to her try to pronounce it. Her first attempt was happy poppins, then she called it a hippy na pop apnus., then happy da doo. She's a pretty good talker, but hippopotamus is a pretty tough word. No wonder we always shorten it to hippo. Too Cute!
